you might need a good pair of headphones for this test

Your hearing rules! You’re either quite young or you’ve looked after your ears.

The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 19.9kHz

Find out which ringtones you can hear!

  1. see, i hear a whine at that range, and i’ve got some kick ass phones too… i think its just side effect of the noise? couldn’t possibly be the actual noise as you can’t hear it :P

  2. No, its clearly the ring. Its not as high pitch as 19.9, it sounds a bit flatter. I dont really have to turn my volume up to notice it. Even at slightly-lower-than-moderate volumes, I only notice it if im paying attention, but if i’m not (say, I’m paying attention to the sound of the computer), then i get a strange feeling and the computer sounds a bit “clogged” and can clearly tell that there’s something going on. I dont know how rare this is, but I can also tell when a TV (crt) is on, even if the screen is black.

I think that if it was just the noise side effect, that it would sound like a hiss more than a whine, like when you turn your headphones all the way up but nothing’s playing.

I think they shouldve added a few over 21.1 just to make it a bit more accurate and easy to tell when your hearing runs out.

  3. damn, only 17.7 for me. such a weirdly sharp cutoff, you think, oh thats not too bad, the next one will be a bit quieter, i can still hear it, and then it just stops making sounds. ah, the wonders of listening to your cd player on max for 5 years. now get off my lawn ya damn kiiiids or ill cut ya.

  4. So nothing to update?

How come you never write about those philosophy subjects that you always talk about and write for school (or so you say). I know you like all that, and i’m surprised that you never blog about it, especially with us being such a smart bunch (well……mostly just Scarf and I elaborating).
